What are we learning?

In English…

In English, we will be reading ‘The Secret of Haven Point’ by Lisette Auton. We will write a scene of  narrative.

In Maths…

In Year 4 Maths,  students will build on their knowledge of angles and shapes, learning to identify and classify angles as acute and obtuse, and compare them by size. They will also delve deeper into the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, including recognizing lines of symmetry and understanding basic transformations like translations.

In Year 5 Maths, students will learn to add and subtract decimals, focusing on aligning decimal points and using place value understanding. This will involve converting decimals to have the same number of decimal places (like decimals) and then adding or subtracting as with whole numbers, ensuring the decimal point is correctly placed in the answer.

.

In Science…

Our unit in Science is, “Earth and space”.  Students will learn about the solar system, focusing on the Earth’s movement and its relationship to the sun and moon. They will explore the order of the planets, the concept of day and night, and how the moon appears to change shape.

In RE…

In RE, our unit is, “What matters most to Humanists and Christians?”

In Topic…

In History, our unit is, “What was life like in Tudor England?” Learning will include extracting information about Henry VIII from portraits and written records and making deductions using inventories about the wealth and position of an ordinary Tudor person.
