Welcome to Fern Class!

Hello and welcome back to school!
We hope you had a fun and relaxing break.

Please come back to our class page regularly for updates about your child’s learning and if you need to contact me, please press the button on the right and start your message FAO Miss Cooke. Alternatively, contact the office and leave a message. I will get back to you as quickly as I can.

Important Information

PE Sessions will be on Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing the correct PE kit, which can be viewed here , and check that your child is not wearing earrings.

Spellings will be given out on Friday and will be tested the following Friday.

Reading Please try to read for at least 10 minutes daily with your child.

What are we learning?

In English…

In English, we will be reading ‘Who Let the Gods Out’ by Maz Evans. We will write a biography and a diary entry.

In Maths…

In Year 4 Maths, multiplication learning will continue to focus on recalling multiplication and division facts up to the 12 times tables, using mental math strategies, and applying these skills to solve problems involving larger numbers.

In Year 5 Maths, students will build on their multiplication and division skills with formal written methods. This will include long multiplication, which involves multiplying numbers with multiple digits, and short division, which is used for dividing larger numbers by a single-digit number.

In Science…

Our units in Science are, “States of matter” and “Properties of Materials”.

In RE…

In RE, our unit is, “ Why do Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah?”

In Topic…

In Geography, our unit is, “Why do oceans matter?”  Learning will include describing how the ocean is used for human activity, explaining how the ocean helps to regulate the Earth’s climate and temperature and describing how humans impact the oceans and the consequences of this.
